The workload is heavy. Emotions are high. And the pressure to keep it all together is landing squarely on your shoulders.
Whether you’re leading a school, an early childhood center, a nonprofit, or a youth and family serving organization, chances are your staff is stretched thin.
At Wildewood Learning, we help you take care of the people doing the caring.
For over a decade, I taught in public schools—doing everything I could to support my students’ learning and emotional well-being. Eventually, I transitioned into a specialist role, diving deep into the study of trauma and its effects on both children and the adults who care for them.
At the same time, my husband and I welcomed a sibling group of four into our lives, and I began to experience firsthand what I had only studied before. Supporting them became a heartfelt journey of healing for me.
My personal experiences have truly sparked my passion and shaped my professional calling.
I began leading youth leadership programs and saw the transformative power of strengths-based support. But I also saw the need for something bigger: systems that support the adults—so they can sustainably support others.
This pillar provides leaders and staff with the foundation they need to reduce stress and reactivity. Through understanding how trauma and the nervous system shape behavior, organizations learn to create psychological safety, predictable routines, and emotionally regulated environments.
Leaders practice slowing down, tuning in, and responding with curiosity instead of judgment. Connection becomes the antidote to reactivity, strengthening the relationships that buffer stress and protect staff well-being.
Culture is created every day through leadership actions and shared agreements. Belonging becomes the underground root system that holds the organization together, especially during stress.
Strengths and values keep people steady in challenging work. This pillar helps staff understand who they are, what they bring, and how to communicate from a grounded, strengths-based mindset.
Organizations need systems—not just strategies—that support well-being and mission. This pillar ensures ROOTS practices become embedded and sustainable across the organization.
